Our first Lemonade Stand

Alex's Lemonade Stand

"In 2000, a 4 year old cancer patient named Alexandra "Alex" Scott announced a seemingly simple idea -she was holding a lemonade stand to raise money to help "her doctors" find a cure for kids with cancer. The idea was put into action when they set up the first "Alex's Lemonade Stand for Childhood Cancer" on their front lawn in July of 2000.

For the next four years, despite her deteriorating health, Alex held an annual lemonade stand to raise money for childhood cancer research. Following her inspirational example, thousands of lemonade stands and other fundraising events have been held across the country to benefit Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for childhood cancer. On August 1st, 2004, Alex died peacefully at the age of 8 -- she had raised over $1 million for childhood cancer research in her short lifetime.”

When I heard of Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, and the story of Alex and her battle with Cancer, I wanted to help raise awareness for the foundation as much as I could. For 3 years, Alex’s Lemonade Stand logo has been on our race car and exposed to thousands of race fans annually, while my race team and I have also held multiple Alex’s Lemonade Stands locally to benefit the foundation. Together, the nation has raised over $25 million for childhood cancer research through Alex’s Lemonade Stand!

Please help us to support the fight against Childhood Cancer!

Racing Against Cancer

“Jon Blanchette founded the Racing Against Cancer™ Team in 1996 after cancer claimed the life of his wife Jodi in 1994. The original purpose of the team was to generate awareness and funding for the American Cancer Society.

It was the original agreement between Blanchette and Foxwoods that spawned the birth of the Racing Against Cancer™ Program. And it is the commitment of Scott Gregory, RAC’s Director of Operations, Foxwoods Resort Casino and the hundreds of drivers, owners, teams and race fans that continue to fuel the success year after year.

Through the efforts of many generous and talented racing teams and organizations, the Racing Against Cancer™ program raised in excess of $52,000 in 2007. A total of $581,164 has been generated to fight cancer since the program’s inception. “To raise $52,000 last year is a testament to this cause

In an emotional speech, David Cyr, the founder of David’s House, said “On January 20th, 2006, David’s House turned 20 years old. That sure didn’t happen by accident. It happened because of all the wonderful people like you.” For further information regarding David’s House please visit: http://www.davids-house.org

To date Racing Against Cancer™ has donated nearly $92,000 to David’s House.”

This year is our first year in conjunction with Racing Against Cancer, however we plan to set up fundraisers and donate money to this great cause. It is great to be able to unite with drivers, crews and race fans in the fight against cancer!
